{"id":3296,"date":"2023-06-28T17:23:52","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T17:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abpath.org\/?page_id=3296"},"modified":"2025-09-29T13:29:44","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T13:29:44","slug":"clinical-informatics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/abpath.org\/subspecialty-certification\/clinical-informatics\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Informatics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clinical Informatics Exam Description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Certification in Clinical Informatics is a joint and equal function of the ABPath and the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ABPath Diplomates\/Candidates for the Clinical Informatics exam must apply\/register with the ABPath. <\/strong><br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ABPath diplomates cannot apply\/register for the Clinical Informatics exam with ABPM.<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Examinations are scheduled and administered via the American Board of Preventive Medicine at Pearson VUE Professional Test Centers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>There are two pathways for certification in Clinical Informatics. <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/abpath.org\/abp_boi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Booklet of Information<\/a> for the complete requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ACGME-accredited Fellowship Pathway \u2013 <\/strong>complete the online application in PATHway<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clinical Informatics Fellowship Simultaneous Training with ACGME Subspecialty Pathology Fellowship (Pathway A or Pathway B)<\/strong><br><br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before beginning Simultaneous Clinical Informatics\/ACGME Subspecialty Pathology fellowship training using Pathway A or Pathway B, your program directors must complete the form below.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must receive prior approval<strong> <\/strong>from each fellowship program director and the ABPath before beginning Pathway A or Pathway B.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\" class=\"wp-image-9370\" style=\"width: 25px;\" src=\"https:\/\/abpath.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Untitled-63.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abpath.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Untitled-63.png 500w, https:\/\/abpath.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Untitled-63-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/abpath.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Untitled-63-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 25px) 100vw, 25px\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/abpath.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/CIFellowshipTraining.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clinical Informatics Simultaneous Training Approval Form<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-small-font-size\">(To be completed by your program directors.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:71px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group exam-category\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The following additional pathways to certification will be available until the end of 2025<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates applying for Clinical Informatics using the Practice or Non-Accredited Fellowship Pathway cannot apply online and must use the application below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Practice Pathway is in effect until 2025. Applications will be accepted until May 15, 2026.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-Accredited Fellowship Pathway must begin before the end of 2025.
