January 31, 2024 – For those participating in ABPath CertLink, please note there has been an important change in the CME credits that can be claimed. Starting in 2024 diplomates participating in ABPath CertLink will be eligible for 1 CME credit per quarter. This modification is due to the reduction in the number of CertLink questions assigned per quarter, implemented in 2023 as part of the ABPCL Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Initiative and aimed at enhancing the overall program experience.

CME credit for participation in ABPCL during 2023 will continue to be honored at 1.25 CME credits per quarter. Participants from 2023 can claim these credits in February 2024 through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

For more information on claiming CME credits for ABPCL participation visit the ABPath CertLink program overview page.

TAMPA, Fla., (Feb. 23, 2023) – The American Board of Pathology (ABPath) is excited to announce the launch of a two-year quality assurance/quality improvement initiative for ABPath CertLink® (ABPCL), the online longitudinal assessment platform for the Continuing Certification Program. This initiative is designed to enhance the user experience and ensure that the program continues to support the highest standards of continuous learning and professional development of board-certified pathologists.

“We have listened to the feedback from our diplomates and are taking action to make a great program even better,” says CEO of ABPath Gary W. Procop, MD, MS. “We are committed to providing the highest quality program for our physicians, and this two-year improvement initiative is a testament to our dedication to our diplomates and the profession of pathology.”

ABPath has been gathering question feedback and insight from diplomates about the ABPCL platform and has developed a comprehensive plan to ensure that the platform and content continues to meet the needs of its users. Over the next two years, ABPath will be working on a multi-focused initiative to update terminology, improve image quality and the content of questions, and more rapidly introduce new content from leading journals. Beginning in July 2023, diplomates will also notice that the number of new questions administered per quarter will be reduced from 15 to 10 questions with up to five clones.

“We are continuously striving to improve ABPCL and are confident that this two-year initiative will further enhance the value of ABPCL as an assessment tool that promotes learning for Continuing Certification,” Dr. Procop added. “We believe that our users will appreciate the improved content, and we look forward to their continued feedback.”

ABPath is dedicated to providing a high-quality and user-friendly program for busy board-certified pathologists, and this two-year improvement initiative is a part of the long-term commitment to our diplomates.
